The OICs more rapidly link court participants to treatment in comparison to traditional drug courts. As the time between arrest and post-arraignment drug court entry is one of high risk and may suspend access to treatment for OUD, OICs may demonstrate improved ability to immediately stabilize and reduce overdose risk in court participants.

While there is interest in exploring the use of GLP-1 agonists in the treatment of SUD, evidence for safety and efficacy of GLP-1 agonists in humans is limited. The results of this scoping review are mixed, and the authors call for further research to determine the efficacy of GLP-1 agonists in treating SUD.

The interactions between HPSOs and MOUDs are not yet well understood. This review examines the relationship between HPSO exposure and patient outcomes when using common MOUD treatment protocols. It also discusses the implications for clinical practice and suggests directions for future research based on the current research on patient populations impacted by HPSOs.
