Opioid Analgesic REMS Education
This education consists of three components: Pain Management & Opioids: A Patient-Centered Approach Course, a three-episode podcast series, and a series of four mini videos. Together, these components provide up-to-date science and best practices for prescribing opioids for pain, aligning with opioid analgesic safety guidelines.
What you’ll Learn:
After taking this education, learners will be able to:
- Recognize the origin(s) and types of pain as they relate to pain management and OUD.
- Fully assess persons experiencing pain, including their risk for OUD.
- Develop safe and effective pain management plans using nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic (non-opioid or opioid) options.
- Partner with patients to reduce risks when taking opioid therapy.
- Describe the pathophysiology of pain as it relates to the concepts of pain management.
- Accurately assess patients in pain.
- Develop a safe and effective pain treatment plan.
- Identify evidence-based non-opioid options for the treatment of pain.
- Identify the risks and benefits of opioid therapy.
- Manage ongoing opioid therapy.
- Recognize behaviors that may be associated with opioid use disorder.
