Advanced Buprenorphine Education

This education consists of 3 main components to learn how to address various challenges when using buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). The online course, microlearning video series, and interactive cases equip learners with the essential tools needed to overcome obstacles, improve their skills, and ultimately achieve better outcomes in buprenorphine treatment for OUD.

What You’ll Learn

After taking this education, learners will be able to: 

  1. Describe the relevant pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of various opioids and the implications for treatment decisions. 
  2.  Analyze specific clinical situations to determine appropriate traditional, low, or high-dose buprenorphine initiation strategies based on evidence-based guidelines. 
  3. Apply strategies to address patient discomfort and mitigate precipitated opioid withdrawal during buprenorphine initiation. 
  4.  Evaluate dosing considerations during stabilization and long-term treatment, tailoring buprenorphine dosing and dosing strategies to individual patient needs. 
  5. Differentiate indications for injectable extended-release buprenorphine compared to sublingual formulations in the treatment of opioid use disorder.
