Blended Course
Overview
This 8-hour, blended course (4 hours on-demand, 4 hours live-virtual) provides required education to qualify to prescribe buprenorphine in an office-based setting and covers essential information for providers to identify, assess, diagnose, and manage patients with opioid use disorder (OUD).
This blended course combines 4 hours of online learning followed by 4 hours of live-virtual learning. The live-virtual portion of the course builds off content delivered in the online portion. Course faculty are expecting learners to complete the online portion before attending the live portion. You must complete both portions to receive credit for the course. ASAM is an approved provider by CSAT/SAMHSA of DATA 2000 training.
The target audience for this introductory activity includes:
- Physicians who wish to obtain a waiver to prescribe buprenorphine in office-based treatment of opioid use disorders.
- Clinicians and healthcare team members working with providers who prescribe buprenorphine in office-based treatment of opioid use disorders.
This activity addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient Care and Medical Knowledge.
Please Note: That recent legislation has removed the waiver requirement to prescribe buprenorphine. Some of the course content and descriptions refer to the waiver and we appreciate your patience as we work to update this content. To learn more about federal buprenorphine prescribing regulations, check out Policies Governing Buprenorphine for Opioid Use Disorder.
