Treatment of Stimulant Use Disorder Course

This education is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their understanding of available treatments and build clinical skills for managing stimulant use disorder (StUD). Participants will gain a comprehensive overview of StUD and learn how to effectively engage and care for patients affected by stimulant use. 

Effectively managing StUD requires a patient-centered, evidence-based approach. This education covers strategies for diagnosis and treatment, including behavioral interventions, emerging pharmacologic options, and overdose prevention strategies. Learners will develop skills to design and implement comprehensive treatment plans, from initial assessment through long-term management.  

What You'll Learn

Upon completing this education, learners will be able to: 

  1. Recognize the unique neurobiological and psychological characteristics of stimulant use disorder and differentiate it from other substance use disorders. 
  2. Identify evidence-based behavioral intervention strategies for patients with stimulant use disorder treatment. 
  3. Implement pharmacological treatments for managing stimulant use disorder.  
  4. Utilize evidence-based strategies to prevent overdose in patients receiving treatment for stimulant use disorder.
