About the ASAM CONTINUUM Course
The ASAM CONTINUUM Course is an 8-hour product training course that is designed to provide foundational skills needed to begin using the tool. The course includes education on the decision rule logic in CONTINUUM through highly interactive and application-focused learning and scenarios providers typically encounter while using the tool. This will include the steps involved in conducting a comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and generating a patient report, which includes a final level of care recommendation.

- Active users who need CONTINUUM refresher training
- New staff at a program that currently uses ASAM CONTINUUM and needs to be trained
- Staff whose program is going to be using the tool soon and needs to be trained before go-live
This course can be paired with the ASAM Criteria Course, for a comprehensive 16-hour experience.

On-Demand Workshop
Overview
This 8-hour workshop is designed to help counselors, social workers, administrators, and other clinical staff learn how to navigate and appropriately use the ASAM CONTINUUM tool to generate a level of care placement for individuals with alcohol and substance use problems.
This is a self paced workshop designed to help beginner, intermediate and advanced counselors, social workers, administrators, and other clinical staff develop patient-centered service plans and make objective decisions about patient admission, continuing care, and transfer/discharge for individuals with addictive, substance-related, and co-occurring conditions by using the ASAM CONTINUUM Software. The workshop content is based on information found in The ASAM Criteria: Treatment Criteria for Addictive, Substance-Related, and Co-Occurring Conditions, Third Edition and incorporates an opportunity for participants to practice applying the information through case-based activities as well as hands-on experience of using the ASAM CONTINUUM Tool.
The target audience for this introductory level course includes: counselors, social workers, administrators, and other clinical staff.
This activity addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, Systems Based Practice.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
- Describe the underlying principles and concepts of the ASAM Criteria
- Identify the six dimensions of the ASAM Criteria's multidimensional patient assessment
- Determine treatment priorities and understanding the ASAM Levels of Care
- Understand the relationship between the ASAM Criteria and the ASAM CONTINUUM Tool
- Navigate the user interface of the ASAM CONTINUUM, including how it adapts in response to the characteristics of each patient interview
- Conduct a patient-centered interview using the ASAM CONTINUUM Tool
- Identify key strategies to make sure the patient interview is easy to follow and engaging, while also collecting all the needed information from the patient
- Interpret the ASAM CONTINUUM narrative and summary reports, including its Level of Care recommendations

Refunds & Cancellations
All ASAM e-Learning Center refund requests must be made in writing to Education@ASAM.org within 90 days of purchase. Those requesting refunds for courses that are in progress will receive partial refunds or e-Learning Center credit. Automatic full refunds will be made for any course with a live-course component that has been cancelled.
