The target audience for this course is healthcare professionals working with patients affected by tobacco use or co-occurring disorders.
This activity addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient-centered Care, Medical Knowledge, Practice-based Learning and Improvement, Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Professionalism, and Systems-based Practices.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion, learners will be able to:
Apply an understanding of biological and social factors to develop effective, patient-centered engagement and care strategies for individuals with TUD.
Assess and diagnose TUD and communicate findings using person-centered, non-stigmatizing strategies.
Develop and tailor treatment plans that incorporate pharmacologic and behavioral interventions for individuals with TUD.
Implement integrated care strategies for TUD that address co-occurring conditions, withdrawal management, return to use prevention, and emerging treatments.
