Teaming vs. "Staying in Your Lane": Interdisciplinary Team Conflicts in Addiction Medicine
Recorded: Thursday, April 4, 2024 to Sunday, April 7, 2024
On-Demand Session
Overview
This 75-minute on-demand session from the ASAM 55th Annual Conference addresses areas of tension/conflict identified in understanding of models of addiction, harm reduction, pharmacotherapy, and hierarchies within the medical system based upon qualitative research data.
This workshop session aims to engage participants in constructive dialogue over points of tension and conflict that emerge within care ecosystems and develop strategies for how to overcome them. To identify these areas of tension and conflict, we draw on qualitative research among individuals working within the treatment ecosystem. The purpose of this workshop is to engage participants in critical, constructive discussion and generate strategies for mitigation of conflict, promoting greater cooperation and mutual respect within treatment teams.
The target audience for this Intermediate level session includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, other clinicians, researchers, residents, fellows, students, and counselors.
This session addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Interpersonal and Communication Skills, Systems-based Practice
This session addresses the following ICPE Competencies:Interprofessional Communication, Teams and Teamwork
