Learning Objectives
- Appreciate the iimportance of mpact digital behaviors have on the structure and function of the brain and their contribution to the development of addiction.
- Summarize the current research evidence surrounding the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of technology-associated behavioral addictions.
- Implement effective screening, intervention and treatment methods for individuals with problematic gaming/gambling, sexual behaviors, and social media use.

- Click Complete Post Test to answer multiple choice questions. Participants will have 10 attempts to pass and must answer 4 out of 5 questions correctly.
- Click Complete Evaluation to provide valuable activity feedback. Scroll down on all questions as there may be answer options that expand past the size of the window.
- Click the button Claim Medical Credits in the box titled Claim Credits & Certificate. Choose the type of credit and click submit. Click the button View/Print Certificate to save or print your certificate. You can view/print your certificate at any time by visiting the ASAM eLearning Center, clicking Dashboard, and clicking Transcript/Achievements.
- For Pharmacists ONLY: Complete the task entitled "Enter Pharmacist CPE Monitor Information (Pharmacists Only)". Pharmacists must claim credit and provide their eProfile ID and Birthdate via the Pharmacist CPE Monitor Information survey within 30 days of completing the activity. Sara Polley, MD, FAPA, FASAM
Director of Addiction Psychiatry
Ellie Mental Health
Dr. Sara Polley is triple board-certified in adult psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, and addiction medicine. She practices in the state of Minnesota and serves as a director for Ellie Mental Health while providing clinic-based psychiatric and addiction treatment services for all ages. She is a medical director for Horowitz Health, an Associate Professor for the University of Minnesota with a special intersest in introducing medical students to the field of addiction medicine, and a pediatric addiction consultant for the Minnesota Psychiatric Assistance Line. She is an appointed member of the Minnesota Cannabis Advisory Council representing the prevention and treatment of substance use disorders as the state refines their policies pertaining to medical and adult recreational use of cannabis products.
Emily Brunner
MD
Dr. Emily Brunner is an addiction medicine physician currently practicing at Sage Prairie, an outpatient addiction medicine clinic in Eagan, Minnesota. Dr. Brunner received a B.S. in neuroscience at MIT, followed by attending the University of Michigan for medical school and family practice residency. She became board certified in addiction medicine in 2014 via the practice pathway, and worked at Hazelden Betty Ford foundation for 2 years in the outpatient setting, followed by working for several years in a community hospital setting which had an inpatient cd treatment program. Dr. Brunner enjoys teaching residents and med students, and has a strong passion for helping mentor primary care physicians in adding addiction medicine services to their practice. Dr. Brunner has also been involved in ASAM at multiple levels, including as treasurer and president of the Minnesota branch of ASAM, and will be starting a role as regional director for Region VI in 2021. She is also very interested in advocacy for patients, and helping to reduce stigma at the community level and eliminate barriers for treatment of addiction as a chronic disease.

Shane W. Kraus is a licensed clinical psychologist and expert in trauma, substance use disorders, and behavioral disorders (gambling, sex). Dr. Kraus received his PhD in clinical psychology from Bowling Green State University in 2013. In 2015, he completed his addiction fellowship at Yale School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry / VISN 1 England MIRECC. He is an associate professor of psychology at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Dr. Kraus has published over 200 scholarly works on trauma, behavioral addictions, substance use, sexual behavior and psychopathology.

In support of improving patient care, the American Society of Addiction Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
Physicians
The American Society of Addiction Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 1.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Nurses
This activity awards 1.25 Nursing contact hours.
PAs
ASAM has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1.25 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 1.25 AAPA Category 1 CME credits. Approval is valid until 05/06/2028. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.
