Overview

This 6-hour course expands on the content discussed within The ASAM Criteria 4th Edition Foundations course. This interactive course will follow multiple case scenarios along the patient’s journey through the continuum of care. It will provide an in-depth understanding of providing level of care recommendations, developing individualized treatment plans, and conducting reassessments for continued service or transition of care for patients with addiction and co-occurring conditions. Additionally, participants will examine implementation challenges and develop strategies to provide appropriate treatment for persons with substance use disorders (SUDs). It is recommended that attendees successfully complete the Foundations course before beginning this course.

The target audience for this comprehensive course includes: counselors, social workers, payers, administrators, and other clinical staff. This course addresses the following ACGME Competencies: Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Medical Knowledge, Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, and Systems-Based Practice.

Learning Objectives

1. Conduct an ASAM Criteria Level of Care Assessment by evaluating risk across the dimensions, utilizing the Dimensional Admission Criteria to make the level of care recommendations and identify Dimensional Drivers.   
2. Develop an individualized treatment plan for persons with substance use disorders (SUD) using an ASAM Criteria Treatment Planning Assessment. 
3. Conduct a Reassessment and Treatment Plan Review and utilize continued service and transition criteria to make evidence-based decisions regarding transitions in level of care.

Refunds & Cancellations

All ASAM e-Learning Center refund requests must be made in writing to Education@ASAM.org within 90 days of purchase. Those requesting refunds for courses that are in progress will receive partial refunds or e-Learning Center credit. Automatic full refunds will be made for any course with a live-course component that has been cancelled.

2. Attend the virtual-live course via zoom (you must be present for the entire course in order to take the post-test).
   1. Ensure that you have downloaded zoom and make sure all updates have been installed. 
   2. Learners are strongly encouraged to have their cameras on and actively participate in the course. 
   3. If possible, use a zoom background to minimize distraction to other learners. 
   4. Mute your mics until you wish to speak. 
3. After attending the live course, you may take the post text. Click Complete Post Test to answer multiple choice questions. Participants will have 10 attempts to pass and must answer 13 out of 18 questions correctly.
4. Click Complete Evaluation to provide valuable activity feedback. Scroll down on all questions as there may be answer options that expand past the size of the window. 
5. Once the course evaluation is complete, click on the Complete Evaluation - Presenters to provide valuable activity feedback. Scroll down on all questions as there may be answer options that expand pas the size of the window. 
6. Click the button Claim Medical Credits in the box titled Claim Credits & Certificate. Choose the type of credit and click submit. Click the button View/Print Certificate to save or print your certificate. You can view/print your certificate at any time by visiting the ASAM e-Learning Center, clicking Dashboard, and clicking Transcript/Achievements.
