Course Overview

The CO*RE/ASAM Pain Management and Opioids: Balancing Risks and Benefits curriculum is newly updated to reflect the latest information in this vital area of healthcare. The thoroughly revised curriculum addresses: the nature and pathophysiology of pain; assessing patients in pain; creating a pain treatment plan; initiating opioid therapy; managing patients on opioid analgesics; educating patients and caregivers; and understanding opioid use disorder. This program meets many states requirements for opioid education and is fully compliant education requirement, issued by FDA. 

Participants of the 40-hour program may attend a live course, live webinar or fulfill the requirement online. Participants who have already completed the course through ASAM may submit that CME certificate to fulfill this activity of the 40-Hour Program.

Note: The CO*RE/ASAM Pain Management and Opioids: Balancing Risks and Benefits has been updated several times (previously known as REMS, Safe Opioid Prescribing, etc.). Participants will only be able to access the most recent version of the course through this program, and we encourage participants to complete the most recent version, however, certificates from past iterations that have already been completed will be accepted to fulfill this requirement.
