  • Rebroadcasting: So You Want to be an Addiction Doc?: Career Pathways in Addiction Medicine

    Contains 4 Component(s), Includes Credits

This will be a rebroadcasting of the recorded webinar with LIVE audience question and answer. In the setting of the opioid epidemic, there has been a call for enhanced and expanded medical education in substance use disorders. As the number of addiction medicine physicians completing training grows, so too do the multiple career pathways within the field. From inpatient and outpatient settings to private, public, and academic domains, a newly trained fellow or medical trainee can explore a diverse number of career options. Many fellows are engaged primarily in academic environments and are not exposed to the variety of career trajectories in the field. This session seeks to assist those who are early in their career who are either interested in or committed to addiction medicine.

  • Building the Addiction Medicine Physician Workforce: All Hands on Deck

Product not yet rated Contains 4 Component(s), Includes Credits

The opioid crisis has brought attention to the need for comprehensive training and credentialing of physicians in the field of Addiction Medicine (ADM). Organized medicine, medical educators and health systems are increasing their interest and attention to preventing and treating the primary disease of addiction, as opposed to historical attention focused solely on medical consequences. With the recent recognition of ADM as an ABMS level subspecialty and the establishment of the first wave of ACGME accredited ADM fellowships, physicians now have two paths to secure certification in the field: the Practice Pathway and the ADM Fellowship Pathway.
